Worlds 2012 in Geneva

The World Hardcourt Bike Polo Championships 2012 have been confirmed as being held in Geneva, Switzerland, on the 14th to 18th of August 2012. 48 teams will compete over the four day competition.

Although guaranteed spots have been given to the top AHBPC teams, Geneva will be holding a small ‘Wildcard’ tournament in the days before the World Championships. This will be for unqualified teams to compete for a place in the main tournament. This includes those who were unable to attend the AHBPC. Geneva has made a preliminary offer of 2 spots to Australia and NZ for this tournament. The AHBPA will also manage this allocation for teams. These two spots will be offered in the same manner as the allocation process for the main tournament but will begin after the 4 spots have been accepted. If you did not attend the AHBPC, you can register your interest for a place at the Wildcard tournament by emailing “ahbpa@googlegroups.com” with the subject “WHBPC Wildcard” with your name, city and whether it is as a team, or as an individual.

Rainy Day Polo

League polo games will be starting Monday evenings with the first games kicking off the season on May 14th. AHBPA

Abe and Nathanael are your new Austalasian Hardcourt Bike Polo Association reps for Wellington. We’ll be representing you on the national level. This is a young council so things are still be sorted out. For now AHBPA exists to make communicating polo between cities more easy. We will be discussing a common rule set and picking host cities for the yearly Australasian Hardcourt Bike Polo Championships among other things.

If you have any ideas, comments or concerns that would be useful to discuss with the other reps just let us know!

Hey Everybody! I am posting this here on the off chance that someone other than the Wellington crew will want one.

I am going to do a T-shirt order! You will be able to choose your size, and colour and the print will be in white on the front (see below). They will be $20 a piece; some of the money will go into a club fund for tournaments and club improvements.
